In Nigeria, crude oil theft is posing a significant threat to the oil and gas industry. In the first quarter of 2022, crude oil theft went up to 108,000 barrels per day on average, from 103,000 barrels in 2021. Since our establishment in 2017, a major focus for us at White Dove Shipping Company has been addressing this single challenge. Our strategy as a business has primarily been offering evacuation and transportation solutions for finished crude products in order to improve efficiency and mitigate risks to businesses in the industry.
At White Dove Shipping Company, our expertise lies in the provision of robust marine evacuation equipment – which includes tugboats, storage vessels, security vessels, crew boats, supply boats, offloading vessels and terminal and marine operations. We have several owned fleets (such as FSO UGO OCHA, MT Abiola and others) which are crude carriers. Besides our high-quality equipment, our team consists of highly trained and certified professionals who mount our vessels in compliance with the most prestigious international standards.
As a pioneer in the subset shipping industry, we aim to help the industry address crude theft and be the one-stop shop for the full evacuation of oil and gas products in Nigeria. We use vessels and tankers to move the crude products from the point of production in a host of shuttle vessels, to the terminals for exportation. This approach is much more sustainable as pipelines are prone to security breaches and vandalism.
We are becoming a leading voice in the transportation subset in the oil and gas industry and we understand the importance of getting value for the services provided in a sustainable way. We aim to eliminate every opportunity for crude theft while helping indigenous oil producers adequately account for their oil production.
As an indigenous company with over 90% local workforce both on land and sea, we are constantly investing in new and experienced talent. We are also acquiring new equipment, exploring more sustainable methods to reduce environmental impact and giving back to the communities where we operate. The oil and gas industry in Nigeria keeps growing and we are growing and evolving with it. In the near future, we will be able to evacuate 150 barrels of crude oil and plan to have over three Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs) to meet the industry exportation demands
